Buying Insurance

As an international student, you are required to carry adequate insurance. Washington State University offers insurance and will automatically bill you for this insurance unless you show proof of other coverage that is equal to WSU's insurance coverage.

WSU Policy on Insurance Coverage

Details of WSU's insurance coverage, cost, dates of coverage and benefits can be found at: http://www.hws.wsu.edu/default.asp?PageID=2453

If you have purchased other insurance before arriving at WSU, you must bring all paperwork showing coverage and details of your insurance plan with you. These forms must be taken to the WSU Health and Wellness office located in the Washington Building. The Health and Wellness office will determine whether the coverage in your alternate insurance plan is enough or whether you will have to purchase the insurance at WSU.

All paperwork for alternate insurance must be taken to the Health and Wellness office prior to the tuition due date each semester. You can find the tuition due date on the WSU web site: www.ronet.wsu.edu and then click on the link to "Academic Calendar." You will have to choose the semester you will be at WSU on the "Academic Calendar" page.

All additional questions about WSU insurance should be directed to hws@wsu.edu
