Education Abroad

Academic Credit

As you prepare to return to the U.S. and WSU, there are steps that you can take in order to ensure that your courses are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Step 1
Compare your Course Approval Form with the courses you have been taking to verify that they have been approved by the appropriate WSU department.

Step 2
Ensure that a transcript from your Program Sponsor or Host University has been requested. The official transcript should be sent to the Education Abroad Office:

Washington State University
Education Abroad Office
PO Box 645110
Pullman, WA 99164-5110

Step 3
When you return, check your MyStudyAbroad account to see if your transcript has been marked as received. EA 300 or ISE 300 (the place-holder course we enroll you in while abroad) will be replaced with the actual courses you took abroad. Remember, at the end of each term abroad, you will have an "I" grade for EA 300 or ISE 300 until your transcript arrives from abroad. The “I” grade will be governed by university policy regarding incomplete grades (after one year the "I" grade will convert to "F"). If you have questions regarding your transcript, please check the FAQ's page and if your questions aren't answered contact Suguru Fujiwara, International Credential Specialist, at fsuguru@wsu.edu. Please note that transcripts can take 1-4 months to arrive at WSU and once received by the Education Abroad Office, it will take about two weeks to process.

Step 4
It is your academic department’s responsibility to update your DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) to ensure that the requirements you had approved are indeed indicated as being satisfied. Follow up with your academic department if your DARS account has not been updated accurately. For students who fulfilled GER credits while abroad, Dr. Wack’s office takes care of updating DARS.
