Economic Sciences in Italy
Italy has always interested me because of its overall allure. When I started to look for a study abroad program, I was overwhelmed with all the decisions I needed to make. In what city did I want to study? What classes did I want to take? Did I want to be with WSU students? There were many things to think about. I saw the School of Economic Science’s (SES) Global Resources: Italian Style program and everything fit what I wanted. They made things so easy for me. Studying abroad was a big life choice, and the SES faculty became a family to everyone in the program.
It changed my perspective on what I wanted to study in the future. I still am studying Communication, but now I have a much broader education.
Since I am an Advertising Communication major, Economic Sciences might not seem like such a good fit; I wanted to study abroad in Italy and still be able to apply my credits to my college transcript. Going through the School of Economic Sciences however, broadened my outlook on my education and future and enhanced my transcript. It changed my perspective on what I wanted to study in the future. I still am studying Communication, but now I have a much broader education.
Studying abroad was not just something I did in the past, but an experience that affects me today. Not only did living in Italy open my eyes in many different ways, but it gave me new job opportunities. Because of studying through the SES program, I was a Peer Advisor for the Education Abroad Office and now I am their Advertising Intern as well as the SES Marketing Coordinator. My experience sets me apart from others and will continue to help me in the future when finding a career after college.
