What is the procedure for applying to undergraduate programs at WSU?
- Complete a WSU International Undergraduate Application.
- Pay $50 application fee.
- Prove English Proficiency in one of the approved ways.
- Submit Certificate of Financial Responsibility with bank statement showing a minimum of $28,478 for the first year tuition, fees, and living expenses.
- Send all original academic transcripts from high school and/or all college level work
What is the procedure for applying to graduate programs at WSU?

What is the priority application date for undergraduate admissions?
Fall Semester
January 31st is the priority application date for fall semester (classes start in August, which is the most common semester for entry).
Spring Semester
October 1st is the priority application date for spring semester (classes start in January)
What is the priority application date for graduate admissions?
- Fall Semester
- March 1 outside U.S., April 1 within the U.S. and Canada
- Spring Semester
- July 1 outside U.S., August 1 within the U.S. and Canada

How do I know if my application is complete?
- Undergraduate Admission
- If you have questions about your application progress, send an email to international@wsu.edu. Please include your name and WSU ID number.
- Graduate Admission
- Go to www.gradsch.wsu.edu/admission.html and click on "check my admission status"
Do I need to prove my English Language Proficiency (ELP)?
Undergraduate Students:
You do NOT need to prove ELP if:
- You were schooled in Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Jamaica, Liberia, New Zealand, Trinidad, Tobago or Zambia.
- You were schooled outside the U.S. other than the countries listed above and the language of instruction was English, then you must provide an official letter from the school stating English was the language of instruction
- You will have earned at least 54 semester (80 quarter) hours of transferable U.S. college credits (at the time of enrollment) with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- You have attended a U.S.-accredited college/university and by the beginning of classes you have completed English 101 and 102 with a minimum of a “B”, and you have earned at least 27 semester (40 quarter) hours of transferable U.S. college credit with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
- You will have attended a high school accredited in the U.S. for at least three years and will graduated.
- You pass level 5 at the WSU Intensive American Language Center.
All other international undergraduate applicants must prove English proficiency by submitting one of the following, with the minimum acceptable official score:
- TOEFL (International only)
Minimum score required:
- 520 paper based
- 190 computer based

- MELAB - 73
- IELTS - 5.5

- CPE - Pass (A, B, C)
- SAT 1 - Verbal 500
- GCSE or GCE - "O" level Pass in English
- IB - Pass in English
- Scores cannot be more than two years old.
