Asian Leadership Award

For the 7th year, AT&T is sponsoring an Asian Leadership Awards Program. New Asian students from the 13 countries/territories listed can apply. China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, India, New Zealand and Australia are eligible to apply if they have an I-20 or an IAP 66 dated 2004. The American-Scandinavian Foundation offers funding (usually at the graduate level) for Scandinavians to undertake study of research programs in the United States. Candidates for awards are recommended to the ASF by our cooperating organizations, as follow: Eligibility: Applicants must be citizens of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. The number and size of awards granted annually varies widely between countries. The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund was established in 1981 to honor the late Margaret McNamara and her commitment to the well-being of women and children in developing countries. P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund for Women

International Peace Scholarship (IPS) is available to women from countries other than the US and Canada pursuing graduate studies. An applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study and working toward a graduate degree. In order to qualify for her first scholarship, an applicant must have a full year of coursework remaining. Maximum award amount is $6,000 annually and the application deadline is December 15. Ambassadorial Scholarship Program

The Ambassadorial Scholarship Program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries. The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International annually grants scholarships to more than 1,000 international scholars for study worldwide as part of their ongoing efforts to promote world understanding. The program currently sponsors three types of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies: Academic-Year, Multi-Year, and Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarships. Some Rotary Districts may not offer all types of scholarships. Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)

The scholarship loan system provides loans for school expenses to outstanding students who are having difficulty with their studies due to economic reasons. Eligible students include those attending educational institutions such as Graduate schools, universities, junior colleges, colleges of technology, professional training colleges, established based on the Japanese School Education Law.

  • Students who plan to study abroad can apply to Category 2 Loans for Those Hoping to Study Abroad.
  • The scholarship loan program of JASSO also applies to students enrolled before April 2004 to upper secondary schools or upper secondary courses of professional training colleges.

Bridging Scholarships for Study in Japan

The Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project offers scholarships to American students participating in study abroad programs in Japan. Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply. Japanese language study is not a prerequisite. Each recipient will receive a round-trip ticket to Japan and a monthly stipend. The maximum total scholarship aid available per student (including plane fare) is $4,000.
