Advanced Skills
The Advanced Skills Courses have been developed based on the needs of WSU graduate and undergraduate students as they progress in their academic careers. These courses assist students in refining specific English skill areas, or provide opportunities for overall improvement of academic English competence.

Thesis & Dissertation Writing Support Course
This course is specifically designed to assist graduate students with thesis and dissertation writing. Students receive individualized instruction according to their academic writing needs and goals. Emphasis is on strategies for getting started, organizing work, presenting projects, and personalized language instruction, including grammar and editing.
Instructor has taught English composition, technical writing, research and English as a Second Language, and is an experienced, professional editor.
ITA Workshop
The ITA Workshop has been designed to address problems identified during the ITA exam. This course provides practical and direct work on communication strategies (especially pronunciation), effective teaching skills, and cultural awareness of the American classroom.
Pronunciation Workshop
This intensive pronunciation workshop is designed for students who have a serious desire or need to address their specific pronunciation difficulties. Sections are limited to 5 students. Each student receives an extensive evaluation at the beginning of the course. From this evaluation, the teacher develops individualized pronunciation goals and programs to concentrate on in class. Students are expected to practice outside of class with materials, including a book and CD or tapes, that each student purchases for this course.
