Summer Institute
In this summer program, students have the opportunity to interact with others from around the world while they study with experienced ESL professionals Students from different groups are mixed in a wide variety of classes, both academic and culture based. It is the student mix that makes this class special. On the weekends, they can participate in fun activities that let them experience the Pacific Northwest. This program is perfect for groups who want language and cultural experience in the U.S.
Custom Short-term Programs
The IALC designs, delivers and hosts on-site custom and short-term programs for colleges, universities, and businesses from many different countries. Classes and cultural activities are developed to meet the specific needs or preferences of the group. Examples have included English Through Art, Business English, and Academic English Short Courses. Programs are typically from two-six weeks in length, and students live in residence halls on the WSU campus. They study with professional ESL faculty, and they take part in recreational activities such as rafting, skiing, horse-back riding and sight-seeing.
Community ESL
This program provides English as a Second Language instruction to members of the local international community. Students have the opportunity to practice conversation skills, learn practical vocabulary, develop their listening skills, and get help in the specific areas they need. Students also learn about American culture, make new friends, and have a good time learning!
- Open to adults who are least 16 years old
- Classes offered 1 or 2 evenings per week (3 hours of instruction per evening)
- Taught by regular IALC faculty members
- 8-week course
- Dates: To be announced
- Tuesday and/or Thursday evening
- Open enrollment - join any time during the session: tuition is pro-rated
- Tuition:
- 3 hours of instruction (one night per week): $100
- 6 hours of instruction (two nights per week): $175
