Scholarships

The IALC offers limited financial support through scholarships for students seeking to study in our programs. Currently, we offer the following scholarship.

Violet M. Yates Scholarship

The Violet Yates Scholarship fund was established by the Yates family in celebration of Mrs.Yates's 80th birthday and her lifelong concern for education of foreign-born women residing in the area. The scholarship is awarded to one student per year, and the recipient must use it for tuition during the IALC's eight week sessions. The scholarship is based on:

Requirements

The applicant must be a woman living in Whitman, Latah or Nez Perce County for whom English is not her first language.
The applicant must hold a degree from a secondary institution in which English is not the language of instruction.

Scholarship Application

  1. Request an application packet from the IALC office in McAllister 116. Packets are available October 1 of each year and due by December 1.
  2. Complete each part of the application packet. All forms must be complete and the letters of recommendation received before you can be considered for the scholarship. The packet consists of:
    • application form
    • financial statement
    • personal statement
    • two local letters of recommendation
  3. Mail or hand-deliver your application to the IALC office in McAllister Hall 116.
  4. The scholarship is awarded in January for admission to the IALC's Spring I Session
