Stakeholder Empowerment Through Knowledge-Based Sustainable Agriculture & Natural Resource Management Systems (SANREM III)
Project Description

SANREM is a Collaborative Research Support Project (CRSP) funded by US Agency for International Development (USAID). The overall aim is to advance land management practices that provide long-term social, economic, and environmental benefits. The project is carried out in developing countries that will be selected over the course of the project through proposals submitted by participating universities. The Management Entity (ME) for the project is at Virginia Tech University with different technical components led by different universities within the SANREM consortium. Substantive work under the project is funded through competitive awards and project design and development to win these awards is an important activity. This includes travel to prospective project sites overseas, including visits to targeted USAID missions and local partner institutions, as well as to the ME and SANREM partners in the US. WSU provides program leadership in the area of Farm/Enterprise-Based Systems, serving as a focal point for knowledge, project development and organization and reporting to the ME. The principal objective is how to increase productivity of farm systems in a manner that is sustainable over the long run.
