Afghan eQuality Alliances in Afghanistan
Project Description

The Afghan eQuality Alliance Is an Afghan-led organization made up of stakeholders and leaders in Afghanistan’s higher education community that seek to work with and/or partner with Afghan higher education institutions.
The goal is equal access to quality education and e-educational resources and by 2010 enrollment of students to universities will be 100,000 with at least 35% female students. The curriculum in Afghanistan’s public universities will be revised to meet the development needs of the country and the private sector.

Key outcomes are:
- Improved capacity of the leadership and management of 19 higher education institutions to meet standards of excellence and quality assurance.
- Improved capacity of 5 Kabul-based and 4 regional higher education institutions to sustain services of an Afghan Next Generation eLearning (ANGeL) Center for Teaching and Learning.
- Improved capacity of lecturers to upgrade their curriculum, course syllabus, and online content in key academic areas.
- Strengthened capacity of Kabul University and the Civil Service Institute to build capacity in public policy and administration.
Key strategies to achieve outcomes are:
- Use Global Development Alliances (GDA) to provide experts with relevant teaching or industry experience and peer to peer technical assistance and training opportunities to achieve shared objectives.
- Use Information Technology to provide access to up-to-date teaching and learning materials to be shared across 19 universities to augment, not to replace, the lecturer and to enable a variety of learning modes.
