Philippines Reforestation and Community Support Program
Project Description
Project goal is to promote a program that reduces or eliminates deforestation. Fulfilling this goal involves a strategy comprising 4 inter-related objectives:
- Promote tree planting programs to provide sustainable supplies of wood.
- Improve the fuel-use efficiency to reduce wood consumption and related costs.
- Explore opportunities to improve productivity, management and use of natural forests to reduce deforestation and to complement the supply of wood from planted trees.
- Evaluate key factors affecting growers with aim to target intervention that tackle the most critical needs for effective and lasting impacts.
Phase 1 will focus on program definition and year 1 tree planting. Phase 2 will build on the successes, lessons and experiences of Phase 1 to expand the scale and scope of the program.
