Globalization
Washington State University's updated strategic plan emphasises the centrality of globalization throughout with a strong emphasis on establishing WSU as a leading research institution.
The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is playing a central role in both of these areas through its support of international students and scholars. Below are excerpts of the university strategic plan. This is followed by a summary of the role OISS is taking in the fulfilment of the plan.
Strategic Plan

Role of OISS
The presence of our international population on campus contributes greatly to globalization and research facets of this plan. Our international students and scholars also enhance the diversity or our community by bringing an international perspective to the campus.
International researchers and teachers constitute an increasingly large percentage of the university's faculty and are some of the best and brightest in their fields. They are a vital component of WSU's present and future and are helping establish WSU as a premier research institution.
OISS also facilitates interaction between internationals and the campus community through social, cultural, and educational programming. Many of these programs, as well as outreach efforts, are through the International Center. The International Center is a collaborative center jointly established by OISS and the International Student's Council.
Neither the research nor the globalization goals of the strategic plan could be achieved at a high level of excellence without our international population. The services of OISS facilitate the presence and integration of internationals into the WSU community. We are thrilled to do our part in making WSU truly "World Class, Face to Face."
