Extending Status

A J-1 student interns can extend their program for up to a total of 12 months in agreement with the hosting professor and with the assistance of the J-1 student intern adviosr in OISS. This extension must be done PRIOR to the expiration date listed in item #3 of the DS-2019.

To request a Program Extension, a J-1 student intern should contact their J-1 student intern advisor in OISS two months before the authorized stay or DS-2019 expires. The extension must be processed prior to the expiration date of the previous DS-2019.
