Service Units

International Programs facilitates, supports, and coordinates Washington State University's international activities. The scope of this mission involves work in several areas, which are outlined below.

Administration of International Programs

The administration of International Programs led by the Vice Provost, Dr. Lance LeLoup, who oversees the service units, personnel, finances, and strategic planning. The Vice Provost is also engaged in:

Education Abroad

Korean hallEducation Abroad (EA) provides students and faculty with education-abroad options, including overseas study, exchanges, internships, service-learning, and Fulbright graduate opportunities. The unit works with faculty in expanding the international content of existing courses and developing new courses.

Global Studies

FestivalThe Global Studies unit of International Programs exists to assist and support colleges and academic units across the WSU system with their efforts to internationalize the curriculum at all levels. In conjunction with these efforts, the unit houses the advising structure for the interdisciplinary, cross-university Global Studies minor.

Intensive American Language Center

Intensive English class instructionThe Intensive American Language Center (IALC) provides high quality, intensive English language instruction. Additionally, the IALC serves as an academic and cultural bridge for international students preparing for admission, and for current students who seek to develop their language skills.

International Enrollment

Lab ResearchThe International Enrollment (IE) unit recruits international students, provides incentives and information, and helps guide prospective students through the application and admissions process.

International Research and Development

Alternative livilihoods in AfghanistanInternational Programs Research and Development (IR&D) is helping to build a world-class environment at Washington State University through programs that offer opportunities for participation by students, faculty, and departments in education, research, and outreach. Many programs involve alliances and partnerships with a diverse range of public and private sector institutions in the United States and abroad to enhance competencies in successfully addressing global development challenges.
